Photo An Hour: Crochet face test run

Howie Woo is one of my very favorite crochet artists. He's simply amazing. Last year he shared his brilliant creation, the Anti-Facial Recognition System. I recently recreated his bit of genius to use at the camp I work at in the summer (where I teach kids to knit and crochet). My sister helped me give it a good test run the other day around and about town. 

9 AM: Pump iron.

10 AM: Read the local paper. Oh, look who's on the cover!

11 AM: Visit some friends.

Noon: Lunch. Tacos!

1 PM: Siesta. 

2 PM - 4 PM: Wait in line for bubble tea at T-Pumps.

5 PM: Wonder where the day has gone. 

6 PM: Head home to gaze lovingly at yarn wall.

6 PM: Gives a whole new meaning to "putting on your face."

If you're anywhere near as nuts as me and Lorna, you will have so much fun if you make yourself an anti-facial recognition system. If you know the basics of crochet, the pieces are all easy to improvise. Then just sew some velcro on the back. The expressions and combinations you can make are endless! We like to make faces for eachother, without the other seeing, and then guess what the face is by trying to do the appropriate body language. And then take iphone pics. Of course. 

Once the kids get their hands (and faces) on this I'll never want to put it on my face again. Ha ha, eww.
